Class of 2012


David V. Burrell '65
Basketball, Baseball, Golf

  • Member of SB's 1st class to attend SBHS for 4 years
  • 2 year Varsity Letter player in Basketball, 7th leading scorer in the Northern league
  • Basketball team seeded 2nd in the State Tournament
  • Started Baseball all 4 years, MVP his senior year
  • Awarded the SB Kiwanis Award for Outstanding Male Athlete
  • Golf was Dave's passion, SBHS only had one meet per year, the VT State Championship, Dave went on to play golf in college and is now a PGA Professional

Bryan Cairns '96
Football, Hockey, Tennis, Track & Field
  • Outstanding Back of the year in Football where he played both offense and defense
  • 4 year Varsity letterman in Hockey and his teams won (2) Division II State Championships
  • 4 year Varsity letterman in Tennis, winning (3) State Championships
  • Also competing in Track where his 4x100 meter relay team finished 4th in the State.
  • Received 12 Varsity letters
  • Awarded the SB Kiwanis Award for Outstanding Male Athlete
  • Went on to play football and hockey in college

Paul L. Clark '66
Football, Basketball, Baseball,Track & Field

  • Paul competed in 6 different sports while at SB
  • Basketball is where Paul excelled, he was selected as a 1st team All-Northern League and All-Tournament team member.
  • Captain 2 years, MVP 2 years and leading scorer in the Northern league
  • Qualified for the New England Championships in the 100 yard dash
  • Paul's football career was cut short due to injury, but he went on to try soccer and Cross Country
  • Awarded the SB Kiwanis Award for Outstanding Male Athlete
  • Paul went on to play basketball in college.

Debbi Dunkley '71
Rebelettes, Gymnastics, Track & Field
  • Debbi was the undefeated Vermont All-Around State Champion in Gymnastics all 4 years at SBHS
  • Won one Vermont State Championship
  • Member of the Rebelettes Drill team and the newly formed girls' track and field team.
  • Awarded the SB Kiwanis Award for Outstanding Female Athlete
  • Debbi went on to compete in Gymnastics at the college level

Cheryl Hurtubise Bey '82
Field Hockey, Basketball, Nordic Skiing, Track & Field
  • A track star whose records in the 200, 400 and mile relay have held up since graduating from SBHS
  • Member of (4) State Championship teams in Track & Field
  • At the New England Championships her team won the 4x110 relay as well as placing 2nd in the mile relay
  • Cheryl played 4 years of field hockey, 1 year of basketball and 3 years of Nordic Skiing
  • Cheryl went on to complete in Track & Field at UVM

Raymond Leggett '71 - Dhyan Nirmegh
Football, Nordic & Alpine Skiing
  • All-State Quarterback for the 1st Vermont State Championship Football team
  • Captain of both Nordic & Alpine Ski teams
  • Awarded the SB Kiwanis Award for Outstanding Male Athlete
  • Ray also served as the Rebels Nordic Ski Coach from 1994--2001 and was named the SBHS Coach of the Year in 1998.

Kristin A. Manazir '80 - Coach 1985-2003
Girls' Track & Field
  • Kris began coaching at SBHS in 1985 as Assistant Varsity Girls' Track & Field coach, the following year, she became the head coach and continued in that role for the next 17 years
  • Kris developed character first and technique second in all her athletes
  • Kris was named SBHS Coach of Year in 1997
  • Kris has been a Math educator at FHTMS for over 20 years

Nancy Nolting Scagnelli '82
Field Hockey, Basketball, Track & Field
  • A 3 sport standout
  • Nancy was named MVP in Basketball as well as Captain
  • 3 straight Metro Division Championships, 3 straight trips to the Final Four and back to back Division I State Championships
  • Named to the All North and Vermont All-Star teams
  • Member of 4 straight Division I State Championships in Track & Field
  • Awarded the SB Female Scholar-Athlete Award

Peg Perkins Rieley '85
Field Hockey, Basketball, Track & Field
  • Named to the Metro All-Star team in Field Hockey & Basketball
  • Member of (2) Vermont State Championship Field Hockey teams
  • Named captain (3) years in a row for Basketball
  • In 1985 Peg won the Vermont State Championship in Basketball with a perfect 22-0 season
  • Named to the Vermont All-Star team in Basketball
  • In Track, Peg participated in javelin and discus and competed in the New England Championships
  • Awarded the Gary Iverson Memorial Award


Meg Perrin Flaherty '85
Field Hockey, Basketball, Tennis
  • A member of a Vermont State Championship in Field Hockey
  • Metro Division All-Star team and Vermont All-Star team
  • In 1985 Meg won the Vermont State Championship in Basketball with a perfect 22-0 season
  • Named to the Vermont All-Star team in Basketball
  • Member of a Vermont State Championship in Tennis
  • Captained the Field Hockey and Basketball teams
  • Awarded the SB Kiwanis Award for Outstanding Female Athlete


Patricia Tuxbury Salem '81
Cross Country, Basketball, Track & Field
  • Member of (2) Vermont State Championship Basketball teams
  • Named to the Vermont All-Star team
  • Named Vermont Sports Writers Athlete of the Month
  • The National High School Athletic Coaches Association awarded Pat Honorable Mention to the nations' All-American Team
  • In Cross Country Pat excelled by becoming one of the top runners and participated in long distance running during the Track & Field season as well
  • Awarded the SB Female Scholar-Athlete Award
